Our Pastor

Ken Barber is a native of Texas, growing up South of Houston. 19 years old, in prison, and facing a life sentance, he gave his heart and life to Jesus Christ and surrendered to preach the Gospel. His life was so changed that the prison authority made him a "trustee" and shortly thereafter he was released.

Before coming to Landmark Bro. Barber pastored the Grace Baptist Church of Galveston, Texas for 11 years. He also served as Director of Grace Outreach Ministries. These ministries included the Grace Outreach Rescue Mission, Grace Outreach Aftercare Ministry (a halfway house for recently released convicts), and Grace Outreach Prison Evangelism. All of the Grace Outreach Ministries are now ministries of Landmark and Bro. Barber continues to direct them.

Bro. Barber attended the Landmark Baptist Seminary in Grandbury, Texas. He is assisted in the ministry by his wife Mary. The Barbers have seven children.

Edward R. DeVries was born in Hammond, Indiana and raised in the south Chicago / northwest Indiana area. He received Christ as Saviour at the age of 13 and at age 15 began full-time ministry as a Bus Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana. He moved to Texas in 1993 to become a supervisor at the Star of Hope rescue mission in downtown Houston.

Bro. DeVries has traveled the North American continent as an evangelist and conference speaker. He has authored several books and several of his articles have appeared in The Flaming Torch, The King James Witness, ERRP, and the Baptist Information Service. In addition to serving here at Landmark, he also serves as the President of the School of Biblical & Theological Studies.

Bro. DeVries has earned an Associate of Biblical Studies degree from American Baptist College, a Bachelor and Masters degrees in Theology from Andersonville Baptist College and Seminary, a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Lake Charles Bible College, and a Doctor of Theology degree from Landmark Baptist University.
